#Director Masaomi Ando’s Gyakuten Sekai no Denchi Shojo Releases PV and Cast List

Back in April, we announced an upcoming project from Masaomi Ando. The director, known for Scum’s Wish and Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun, teased very little — tweeting only short phrases like “The world is reversed.” Today, we get a better look at Gyakuten Sekai no Denchi Shojo, subtitled (or possibly alternatively titled) Rumble Garanndoll.

The new series takes place in 2029, ten years after an interdimensional rift opens between Japan and the alternate world of Shinkoku Nippon. This militant version of Japan never left the Showa Era, and invades our Japan before the Reiwa Era can begin.

Now known as Genkoku Nippon, the Japan of our world has all but lost its subculture under Shinkoku Nippon’s harsh censorship. But a small secret society calling themselves “Arahabaki” fights to preserve anime, manga, idols, and everything else we love.

The new project teams Ando back up with Scum’s Wish series composition writer Makoto Uezu (KONOSUBA, Akame ga Kill!), as well as original character designer Akio Watanabe (Monogatari series) and anime character designer Keiko Kurosawa (Scum’s Wish, Astra Lost in Space). EGG FIRM is producing the project.

Gyakuten Sekai no Denchi Shojo is schedule to premiere in October 2021.
