#Digimon Ghost Game Anime First Impression! » OmniGeekEmpire

I’ve been hearing that this new Digimon anime is a lot darker than previous installments. So of course I had to check it out to see what all the scoop was all about, and well they weren’t wrong per se. It’s dark, but not at the same time.

Digimon Ghost Game is a Japanese anime and the ninth anime series in the Digimon franchise. It’s loosely based on the same real Digimon VB game, aka “VITAL BRACELET”, which brings the play to your daily life by utilizing the number of steps you take and your heartbeat. Using that allows you to train your Digimon with something called DIMcards. Think Pokemon Go, but with extra steps (literally) and cooler I guess. Anyways back to the plot of the anime

In the relatively near future, innovative technology has emerged. On social networks, rumors are circulating about strange phenomena whose authenticity is unknown, referred to as “Hologram Ghosts”. Hiro Amanokawa is a middle school freshman at Hazakura Academy, who by activating a mysterious device left behind by his father called “Digivice”, has the effect of making unknown creatures that cannot be seen by ordinary people, the Digimon, visible to his eyes. Since the day he met Gammamon, a mischievous Digimon entrusted to him by his father, Hiro is caught up in various strange phenomena.

So in terms of this Digimon Ghost anime being dark is concerned, yeah it starts out pretty dark with kids having their “future”, aka lifeforce stolen from them but by the end of the episode, they got it back. For me, what I consider dark is, if the events that took place actually remain there, you know, actual consequences. Other than that, it’s not too bad. I feel like it has that season 3 Digimon Tamers vibe to it but it may be too early to make that call yet. For now, the quality is alright and the characters and Digimon seem cool enough. It’s clear this whole anime is a marketing tool to sell more Digimon Vital Bracelets but I ain’t mad.
