#Detective Conan: The Scarlet Bullet Film to Have 498 theaters, The Largest Number in The Franchise

The official website for the Detective Conan anime franchise’s 24th feature film Meitantei Conan: Hiiro no Dangan / Detective Conan: The Scarlet Bullet announced today that the film will be also shown in the IMAX, MX4D, 4DX, DOLBY CINEMA theaters across Japan at the same time with its regular version. 

As a result, the film will be screened in 498 theaters in total, which is the largest number in the anime franchise’s 25-year history. The previous 23rd film Detective Conan: The Fist of Blue Sapphire had 363 theaters in its opening weekend of April 13-14, 2019.  

Also, the first 200,000 audiences of the IMAX, MX4D, 4DX, and DOLBY CINEMA theaters will receive a special “Scarlet ‘Reload'” card newly drawn by Detective Conan manga’s original author Gosho Aoyama. He says, “Hello, this is Aoyama! Now I’m ready to unleash the “bright red bullet,” which I’ve been slowly and deliberately reloading into the cylinder for a year, so please take it well~~♪” 

The film was originally scheduled to be released in Japan on April 17, 2020, but has been postponed for one year to April 16, 2021, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. As reported, it will be also released in 22 countries/regions in the world simultaneously on the release day in Japan. This is the first time in the 25-year history of the anime franchise that a film will be released simultaneously around the world.

The 22 countries/regions are Taiwan, Hong Kong, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Brunei, Thailand, Vietnam, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and France.
