“Detective Conan and Crayon Shin-chan Top Japanese Weekend Box Office”

Detective Conan: The Bride of Halloween and Crayon Shin-chan: Mononoke Ninja Chinpuden were the top-grossing film at the Japanese box office over the weekend (April 23 to April 24).

As reported by Kogyo Tsushin, Detective Conan: The Bride of Halloween earned 894 million yen (~US$6.98 million) during its second weekend, maintaining the number one spot in the process. The movie, which is the 25th Detective Conan film, has so far made 3.6 billion yen (~US$28 million) since its April 15 debut. 

Meanwhile, Crayon Shin-chan: Mononoke Ninja Chinpuden came in 2nd place with a gross of 312 million yen (~US$2.4 million) over the weekend. The movie, which is the 30th film in the Crayon Shin-chan series, was released on April 22.

Other anime movies that made it into the weekend top 10 were Free! The Final Stroke: The Second Volume in 4th place and Eiga Doraemon: Nobita no Little Star Wars 2021 (Doraemon: Nobita’s Little Star Wars 2021) in 8th place. The second part of the Free! The Final Stroke movie had premiered on April 22, while the new Doraemon movie, the 41st in the series and a remake of 1985’s Doraemon: Nobita’s Little Star Wars, was released on March 4.
