#Deivi Garcia’s Yankees debut is here, Clarke Schmidt coming soon

Deivi Garcia will make his major league debut by starting one of Sunday’s Subway Series doubleheader games against the Mets at Yankee Stadium.

And based on general manager Brian Cashman’s comment, there is a chance Clarke Schmidt might be joining Garcia in The Bronx.

Talking Saturday before the Yankees halted a seven-game losing streak with a pulsating 2-1 win over the Mets at the Stadium, Cashman hinted at the pair of righties arriving in the big leagues.

“We have a decision lined up that we are ready to execute,’’ Cashman said when asked about Garcia and Schmidt, who have been working out at the alternate site at the Triple-A complex in Moosic, Pa. “One of those [is] in play for [Sunday] and hopefully two. It just depends on how it plays out [Saturday].’’

Following Saturday’s game, Garcia, 21, was announced with Mike King as the Yankees’ starters for Sunday’s twin bill, but the order wasn’t released.

Garcia is on the 40-man roster and Schmidt, the Yankees’ first-round pick in 2017, isn’t.

Like all teams involved in doubleheaders the Yankees can add a 29th player to the roster for the two games, and that could be Garcia.

King has worked four games this year and started one.

Saturday’s win halted a seven-game slide but it wasn’t because the Yankees climbed out of an extended slump hitting with runners in scoring position. The Yankees went 0-for-5 and have five hits in their past 46 at-bats (.109) in the clutch.

Everyone is aware that Gary Sanchez is mired in a very deep slump, one that has been accentuated because Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge are missing from the Yankees’ lineup.

But Sanchez not being in the starting lineup Saturday had more to do with the schedule than with his limp bat.

“When I decided to DH him [in the second game Friday night] and knowing he is going to catch one of the [Sunday] games I wanted to find one [day] down for him,’’ Aaron Boone said.

Erik Kratz, 40, started Saturday after catching the nightcap of Friday’s double-header.

Sanchez took his seat on the bench with a .130 batting average (10-for-77) with 37 strikeouts. He had six hits in his previous 38 at-bats (.158).

Gio Urshela and Gleyber Torres played catch in the outfield before Saturday’s game. Urshela, who missed both games of Friday’s doubleheader against the Mets due to a bone spur in his right elbow, threw without a protective sleeve on the elbow.

Urshela and Torres then took ground balls in front of the Yankees’ first-base dugout because the tarp was on the field.

Boone provided a positive report on Urshela.

“He is probably a day away,’’ said Boone, who started LeMahieu at third after the Yankees optioned the ice-cold Miguel Andujar to the alternate site for the third time this year. Not only is Andujar 4-for-31 (.129), but also he made two errors on one play in the first game Friday night that led to an unearned run in 6-4 loss. “Hopefully expect [Urshela] to play by [Sunday].’’

Torres is on the IL due to hamstring and quadriceps issues in his left leg. Boone didn’t offer a timetable on the shortstop’s return from the IL, but offered a positive report.

“He is doing really well and better than I would have anticipated,’’ said Boone, who started Jordy Mercer at short Saturday for the second straight game. “He is getting close. As far as exactly, I don’t have a day yet.’’
