#Dead Mount Death Play’s 2nd Cour Gets Teaser, Visual, Director Change

The upcoming second cour of the Dead Mount Death Play anime adaptation has received a teaser trailer and key visual ahead of its October 9 (effectively October 10 at 12AM JST) Japanese premiere.
It was also announced that the new cour will feature a new director, with cour 1 director Manabu Ono (Sword Art Online: War of Underworld, Sakura Wars the Animation) receiving a directorial assistance credit for cour 2. Ono is still credited as series composer.
Dead Mount Death Play is based on the Square Enix-published reverse isekai manga written by Ryohgo Narita and drawn by Shinta Fujimoto. The first cour premiered in April with Crunchyroll, Ani-One Asia, and Bilibili streaming outside of Japan. Yen Press describes the manga as:
It’s a showdown for the ages as the legendary hero takes on the corpse god necromancer, but when the dust settles, something isn’t quite right… In the final moments of their epic confrontation, the corpse god’s final gambit shot was wholly unexpected — reincarnation magic! Across space and time, a boy named Polka Shinoyama awakens feeling…not quite himself…… Who could’ve expected that the climactic battle between good and evil would turn out like this??
The anime’s main staff includes Hisashi Abe (Kingdom Season 3 and 4) as character designer and Yuki Nara (Idoly Pride), eba (Skeleton Knight in Another World co-composer), and Kana Utatane (Akebi’s Sailor Uniform) as music composers. Cour 1 saw Takaharu Ookuma (Diary of Our Days at the Breakwater director) and Yoshiki Kitai (Tonikaku Kawaii opening director and storyboarder) assisting Ono with directorial duties. GEEKTOYS is the animation production company.

Meanwhile, the cast members include:
• Yuma Uchida as Takumi Kuruya
• Takuya Eguchi as Tsubaki Iwanome
• Nobuhiko Okamoto as Kouzaburo Arase
• Atsumi Tanezaki as Risa Kuraki
• Kazuhiro Yamaji as Rozan Shinoyama
• You Taichi as Sayo Shinohara
The Dead Mount Death Play manga began serialization in Young Gangan in 2017 and has 11 tankoubon volumes as of April 2023.
