A restraining order has been issued against David Ortiz by the mother of his son, according to a report in his native Dominican Republic.
The Red Sox legend, who was severely wounded after being shot in his homeland one year ago, allegedly has “intimidated and threatened” his ex-partner, Fary Almanzar Fernandez, who filed the protective order in a Dominican court on May 21, according to the newspaper Listin Diario.
The order against Ortiz, 44, prohibits the former slugger from “annoying, intimidating or threatening” Fernandez in person or through electronic communications. A spokesperson for the national Attorney General’s Office said that law enforcement has the authority to remove Ortiz from Fernandez’s property if the former World Series MVP violates the order.
