#David Dastmalchian & More Join Cast of 2nd Season of One Piece Live-Action Series

Netflix has revealed four new cast members joining the upcoming second season of the One Piece live-action series, headlined by the casting of Late Night with the Devil’s David Dastmalchian as Galdino/Mr. 3. 

Dastmalchian and the three other cast members will be playing antagonistic Baroque Works agents, which include Jazzara Jaslyn as Mikita/Ms. Valentine, Camrus Johnson as Gem/Mr. 5, and Daniel Lasker as Mr. 9.

Joe Tracz (Percy Jackson and the Olympians co-executive producer) is joining the second season as writer, executive producer, and co-showrunner with Matt Owens (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Luke Cage writer). Steve Maeda, who developed the series with Owens and served as co-showrunner in the first season, will remain involved as an executive producer.

The One Piece live-action series is a co-production between Netflix and Tomorrow Studios (Cowboy Bebop live action, Snowpiercer). Season one included eight total episodes and debuted on Netflix on August 31, 2023. Filming for the second season has begun as of June 2024 and will premiere sometime in 2025. 

The main cast members of the first season include:

  • • Iñaki Godoy as Luffy
  • • Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro
  • • Emily Rudd as Nami
  • • Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp
  • • Taz Skylar as Sanji
  • • Morgan Davies as Koby
  • • Vincent Regan as Monkey D. Garp
  • • Jeff Ward as Buggy the Clown

The original One Piece manga series by Eiichiro Oda was first launched in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine on July 22, 1997 under the Jump Comics label. A total of 108 tankobon volumes have been released as of March 2024.

The manga has inspired a 1999 OVA from Production I.G and a long-running TV anime adaptation from Toei Animation that has been airing since 1999. The latter passed the 1000th episode mark on November 21, 2021. Other media adaptations include several anime films, stage plays, video games, drama CDs, card games, art and guidebooks, and more.
