#Dad arrested after carrying daughter into elephant habitat at zoo

A dad was arrested on charges of child endangerment after he allegedly took his toddler into the San Diego Zoo’s elephant habitat to snap a picture of her with the animals, police said Friday.

The father reportedly then dropped the 2-year-old when an elephant seemingly wanted to take a run at them and they tried to escape the enclosure, The Associated Press reported Saturday.

He was able to get the child out safely in the end and the elephant was not harmed.

The 25-year-old father reportedly said he “wanted to take a photo with the African bull elephant.”

The incident occurred Friday afternoon at the Balboa Park zoo. A zoo spokesman stated that “two guests, despite multiple barriers, purposely and illegally trespassed into a habitat, which is home to our Asian and African elephants.”
