“#DaBaby Addresses Controversy Surrounding Teen Nickelodeon Star JoJo Siwa Lyric”

The line caused confusion among both DaBaby and Siwa fans alike, with many wondering why a 29-year-old would name-drop the squeaky clean 17-year-old. But according to the multi-platinum rapper, there’s a perfectly good explanation for that.
As the chatter increased, DaBaby evidently felt it was necessary to expound on his decision to use Siwa’s name — and it wasn’t just about wordplay.
“@itsjojosiwa my 3 year old princess is your number 1 fan,” he tweeted on Sunday afternoon (February 21). “I bought her every product you have out. She think she you. Don’t let em trick you into thinking I’d ever have a problem with you. My word play just went over their heads. All love on my end shawty, Keep shining!”

Elsewhere on Twitter, DaBaby tried to point out exactly what people were missing but not before letting his 3.6 million followers know he “loves Twitter.”
“I ‘Siwa’ I’m not like the rest of you n-ggas,” he wrote in two separate tweets. “I don’t ‘Siwa’ they so mad either bae.”

Despite the misunderstanding, Twitter erupted with meme gold. Some pointed out Siwa is two inches taller and could easily take the 5’7″ rapper, while others warned of an impending diss track possibly titled “Rainbows, Candy & Murders.”
Siwa rose to notoriety on the reality television shows Abby’s Ultimate Dance Competition and Dance Moms, which led to a deal with Nickelodeon in 2017. The Omaha, Nebraska native — who’s won numerous Kid Choice Awards and racked up millions of YouTube views — revealed she was a member of the LBGQT+ community in January.
