Easter basket boxes:

These cute attractive presentation packaging can be tailor-made with a plain cardboard box (such as a ream of copy paper), or you can use an Easter basket (if you can find some). You will also need some pretty decoration. You could make your own, or you may have access to some already-made decorations, like the flowers and the chicks in this example. Basically, any decoration that will fit into a square box of about 1″ x 1″ will work for this project.

Memorial Day Boxes:

Memorial Day is the time of year when we honor those who died serving our country. At your Memorial Day party, display these boxes with a photo of a soldier and the words “In memory of,” and fill them with goodies for your guests.

You can use standard white, or if you have access to some American flags, use them as I did here. Make sure the box lid has an opening large enough for the flag to go through. For this project, you will also need a small scrapbooking kit containing stickers, chipboard letters, etc., and glue dots.

Fourth of July Celebration Boxes:

Every year on the 4th of July, we host a barbecue and fireworks party. This year, I made these boxes for the occasion. They are easy to make and festive. There are many things you can do to make these boxes more festive. You can decorate the box with confetti, stars, stripes, and other patriotic decorations. You can also use a star-burst pattern die-cutter to cut the stars and stripes on the front of the box. This would be a good project for your Girls Scout or Girl Scout troop. You might also want to add a flag charm with a 4th of July die-cutter or punch around each star or stripe as well!

Labor Day Boxes:

At Labor Day gatherings, some people serve barbecue pork and others serve burgers. So I made these gift boxes with hamburgers as an option in case either of those recipes is popular. These boxes have a cute star-burst decoration on the front and all the hamburger fixings on the back.

Halloween Trick or Treat Bag Boxes:

One of our favorite things to do during late October is to give out candy at our doorsteps. I made these cute Trick or Treat bags for this season, filled with candy and party favors. I made them with black paper that was cut into strips and glued them into the bottom of a black gift bag.

Thanksgiving Boxes:

The best time of year for a Thanksgiving party for me is on a Wednesday before, when we gather around our Thanksgiving table. I make these attractive presentation packaging boxes so we can have a nice festive Thanksgiving dinner and all the fixings we need to enjoy the festivities. For these gift cases, I used a black cloth bag from my craft supply box (you could use an ordinary black bag as well). This particular project does not require any special materials, so it’s great for a Girl Scout troop or 4H group to make. You could also use plain white gift bags instead of the black ones I used to create this project.

New Year Boxes:

After Christmas, as we count down the days until the New Year, what better way to kick off 2010 than with a New Year’s party. I made these gift containers to give out during the New Year. Each box has a cute black velvet ribbon that ties it shut and is filled with all sorts of party favors, such as chips, candy, and candies.

Valentine’s Day Boxes:

We always have Valentine’s Day parties for our children when they are in elementary school. The girls typically make valentines and give them out to their classmates or to their teachers or parents. We also usually have Valentine’s Day party for the parents. I made these boxes for the parents. The boxes can also be used as valentine’s favor boxes for the children if you so prefer. You could easily fill them with candy for your kiddos to give out to their classmates and teachers, or you can fill them with personalized or homemade treats. If you prefer not to have your gift boxes personalized, I included a non-personalized example of the project at the end of this post.

Easter Boxes:

These boxes are customizable for just about any theme you can think of. You could change the color scheme to fit a different occasion. You could even use them to store the trinkets from a baby shower or a bridal shower. The materials used in this project were found around my craft supply box and my refrigerator, so this is another simple project that an elementary school girl or boy could easily make! The materials I used included plain white gift bags, colored tissue paper and sheer ribbon from my scrapbooking supplies, and green glittery cardstock.

To create these gift boxes, I glued two white gift bags together to create one box. Then I glued a sheer ribbon on the inside of each side of the top of the box, and placed tissue paper on top of that, using double-sided tape to hold it in place. Then I glued two more sheer ribbons on the inside of each lower corner and placed two pieces of tissue paper on top, also using double-sided tape to hold it in place.

In a nutshell:

Use a white bag as the base. Place paper on top of it. Tape it down to hold the paper in place. Glue tissue paper to the inside and outside of the box. Glue some sheer decorative ribbon to both sides and glue tissue paper to that, too. Finally, add a little green glitter embellishment and you have a gift box!
