#Back Arrow Anime by Code Geass Director Gets New PV, Premiere Date, and Additional Cast

A new promotional video, key visual, additional cast, and January 8 premiere date were revealed today for the upcoming TV anime Back Arrow via its official Twitter account. The anime will premiere on January 8 in Japan and will run for two cours.

Code Geass director Goro Taniguchi will direct the anime alongside scriptwriter Kazuki Nakashima (Promare, Gurren Lagann, Kill la Kill) and Aniplex on the project. Toshiyuki Kanno (Megalobox) is adapting the original character designs for animation and also serves as the chief animation director alongside Kōhei Tanaka (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure), who composes the music, Masahiro Yamane (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion) as the CG action supervisor, and Hidetaka Tenjin as the Briheight designer. The series is being animated at Studio VOLN, with CG Production by Dynamo Pictures, backgrounds by Studio Wyeth, and photography/compositing by Chiptune (Code Geass: Akito the Exiled).

The newly announced cast includes Kunihiro Kawamoto (Boruto: Naruto Next Generations) as Burk Lean, Tomokazu Seki(Fate/Zero) as Sola Athin, Reina Ueda (Fruits Basket) as Annie, Sara Matsumoto (Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon) as Jim, Maria Naganawa (KONOSUBA – God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World– Legend of Crimson) as Sam, and Anna Nagase (Uzumaki) as Tom.

The previously revealed cast includes Yuuki Kaji (Attack on Titan) as Back Arrow, Aya Suzaki (Boruto: Naruto Next Generations) as Atlee Ariel, Ari Ozawa (High School DxD) as Elsha Lean, Kensho Ono (Bungo Stray Dogs) as Bit Namital, Ryotaro Okiayu (Bleach) as Kai Rhodan, Tomokazu Seki as Shū Bi, Megumi Han (Hunter × Hunter) as Ren Sin, Ami Koshimizu (A Certain Magical Index III) as Fine Forte, and Mikako Komatsu (7SEEDS) as Prax Conrad. 

A new promotional video for the Rekka empire will be released on December 18, followed by a video for Harmonious Principality of Ryuto on December 25.

The anime’s website describes the story as:

Ringarindo is a land surrounded by a wall. The wall covers, protects, cultivates, and nutures this land. The wall is god … it is the foundation of this land of Ringarindo.

One day, a mysterious man named Back Arrow appears in Essha village on the outskirts of Ringarindo. Arrow lost his memories, but says that all he knows is, “I came from beyond the wall.” To restore his memories, Arrow heads out beyond the wall, but is embroiled in a battle with himself as the stakes.
