#Crunchyroll Celebrates 25 Years of Studio BONES with 4-Part Docuseries

Crunchyroll has announced that it has produced and will air a new four-part documentary series titled BONES 25: DREAMING FORWARD, which explores the history of Japanese animation studio BONES

The series will begin streaming on Crunchyroll on February 13, 2024, coinciding with the release of the series Metallic Rouge, which celebrates the 25th anniversary of BONES. A trailer for the docuseries was also released by Crunchyroll.

BONES 25: DREAMING FORWARD consists of four 24-minute documentary episodes about the prolific studio behind anime like Cowboy Bebop: Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door, My Hero Academia, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, and more. The series is produced by Crunchyroll and French production company DeltaRocket. DeltaRocket’s Jace directed the series and has helmed more than 40 documentaries for French television, including Canal+, Arte, M6, and TCM.

The docuseries explores the creation of BONES and its most legendary series. The series was shot entirely in Japan and includes four parts – “The History of Bones,” “Style and Originality,” “Successful Adaptation,” and “Metallic Rouge: The Future of Bones.”

More than 30 creators and staff from the anime industry are featured throughout the episodes, including president Masahiko Minami, manga artist ONE (Mob Psycho 100), director Shinichirou Watanabe (Cowboy Bebop), writer Kafka Asagiri (Bungo Stray Dogs), author/screenwriter Yutaka Izubuchi (Metallic Rouge), and director Motonobu Hori (Metallic Rouge), among many others.
