#Cowboys’ Markus Paul hospitalized after ‘medical emergency’

Dallas Cowboys strength and conditioning coordinator Markus Paul experienced a “medical emergency” early Tuesday morning, was treated by team personnel and taken by ambulance to a hospital, according to the team.

A statement released by Paul’s family through the Cowboys read, “Markus is in the process of undergoing further medical tests and additional information will be made available at the appropriate time.”

Multiple unconfirmed reports before the Cowboys’ statement indicated that Paul passed away, which prompted an outpouring of grief around the NFL.

The news hit close to home for several former Giants because Paul, 54, was an assistant strength and conditioning coach for Big Blue from 2007-18. He spent the previous two seasons in the Jets organization and also worked for the New England Patriots and New Orleans Saints.

Paul played at Syracuse and was a fourth-round NFL Draft pick in 1989.

The Cowboys cancelled practice on Wednesday after Paul’s emergency at 7:30 a.m.

“The organization extends its prayers and support to the Paul family, and asks for friends and followers of Markus, his family and the team to keep them in their thoughts and prayers,” the team’s statement read.
