#Cops ID victims, motorist in fatal drunk driving crash near JFK

Police on Sunday identified the victims of a violent car crash Saturday near JFK International Airport, where an alleged speeding drunk driver killed a 10-year-old girl and her mother.

Isabella Granobles of Copiague, a hamlet on Long Island, and her mother, Diana Granobles, 31, were killed in the crash at Rockaway Boulevard and Guy R Brewer Boulevard, according to police. The pair were pronounced dead at Jamaica Hospital.

The two were hit in their 2019 Chevy Cruz by Tyrone Absolam, 42, and he faces charges of manslaughter, vehicular manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, assault and driving while intoxicated, the NYPD said. Absolam, who lives in Jamaica, Queens, was speeding in a 2018 Nissan Altima, cops said.

Also in the Nissan was a 38-year-old woman in the front passenger seat, and in the back were a 12-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl, police said.

Cops said Absolam, who was left in serious condition and the 38-year-old woman in critical condition, were taken by medics to Jamaica Hospital.  The children were taken by EMS to Long Island Jewish Cohen Children’s Medical Center, according to police; both were in serious but stable condition.

The grisly wreck occurred on Saturday just before 9 p.m.

“With accidents here on Rockaway Boulevard, it’s always a disaster!” said one cop Sunday morning at the scene. “Never a little scrape, always serious.”

“They drive so fast.” he added. “It’s been especially bad lately.”
