#Conjoined quadruplet kittens survive surgical separation

A cat in Turkey has made history after delivering a set of four kittens, all conjoined from their tail ends.

The unbelievable litter was captured on video by veterinarian Muhammet Coduroğlu and staff in the country’s Kastamonu province. The kittens and their mother had been discovered by a group of civil workers, who brought the newborns to Coduroğlu’s clinic in Inebolu, according to the Anadolu Agency.

Vets were able to successfully separate the four felines, now reportedly in recovery with an adoptive parent in Çatalzeytin, who also took in their mother cat. At least one kitten will be unable to walk normally, Coduroğlu told Anadolu.

“We had to partially amputate a leg of one of the kittens to separate them. The leg was already not functioning when it was severed,” he said.

In May, the world was all-too-briefly captivated with the harrowing story of Biscuits and Gravy — one cat with two faces. Unfortunately, it is common for “Janus” cats, a condition called diprosopus, to have trouble nursing, often unable to decide which mouth to use.

“It doesn’t really know how to nurse properly because it has two mouths, so I’ve been trying to feed it,” owner Kyla King, from Oregon, said at the time. She told local news station KOIN that the cat could eat and meow at the same time.

As predicted, the pitiful creature died shortly after birth, just four days later — in fact, beating the odds.

“He was born with the longest of odds and by living nearly four days, he beat those odds,” King wrote in an Instagram post announcing Biscuits and Gravy’s passing. “It’s hard work for a little guy like him to support a large head with two complete faces.”
