Concept for urban furniture is modular, ergonomic, and inclusive

I live in a city where outdoor public seating is a rarity. When you’re walking around, especially in oppressive heat, there is no place to temporarily sit and rest. But even cities that have enough benches and seats for public use aren’t that friendly and useful for older people. It’s a “one-size-fits-all” kind of seating that don’t take into consideration the special needs of the elderly. They need seats that have supportive features and are not as rigid as regular seats since their backs, legs, and arms may not be as strong as others.

RİVO is an ergonomic urban furniture solution created specifically to support elderly individuals in social spaces. Unlike standard benches, this concept features side elements that act as supportive handles, making it easier and safer for users to sit and stand. These handles provide stability and confidence, addressing a genuine need for safe, accessible seating. But RİVO goes even further: the side forms also double as hooks for hanging personal items such as bags, jackets, or even canes. This clever detail ensures that belongings are always within easy reach, adding another layer of convenience for all users.

This flexibility also makes it a sustainable choice. As community needs change, the benches can be adapted or expanded without wasteful replacements. It’s a forward-thinking solution for cities that want to invest in furniture that lasts and grows with their population.

These seats are also as durable as it is user-friendly. It consists of a laser-cut sheet metal seat and backrest, combined with CNC-bent metal profiles. Each part is produced modularly and assembled by welding, then finished with electrostatic paint to withstand the elements. This robust construction ensures that RİVO remains attractive and functional in outdoor settings, while also simplifying maintenance and repairs.

The world’s cities are aging. As more people live longer, the demand for public spaces that accommodate everyone, regardless of age or ability, is only increasing.
