A dismantled East Village homeless encampment has spawned a sequel — staged right outside the Orpheum Theater.

Members of the twice-rousted mini-shantytown on the west side of Second avenue near St. Marks Place simply walked across the street and set up their homes in front of the shuttered show house — complete with a coffee table, a desk and a bookshelf among their furnishings, witnesses said Wednesday.

The sidewalk setup, under the shuttered theater’s marquee, is similar to an encampment that sat across Second Avenue for weeks — until this weekend, when city workers cleared it out following a report by The Post.

That site, outside a rebuilt apartment building that was leveled in a massive 2015 gas explosion, initially sprouted back up again within 24 hours on Sunday but was gone by Wednesday.

That was a relief to locals — until they realized the camp had simply moved to the other side of the street.

“My husband has spent his entire life in the East Village and says it has never been this bad, even compared to the late ’70s and early ’80s,” said one neighbor, who asked not to be identified. “I’ve lived here since 1993 and in the past two months, I have seen seven people shooting up drugs on my block in the middle of the day. I’ve never seen that.

“I call 311 daily to report these homeless encampments and within an hour the case is closed. What’s the point of even trying.”

Officials at City Hall did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The re-emergence of the East Village camp comes amid complaints of other homeless clusters and public vagrancy.

On Tuesday, The Post reported on a group of junkies seen shooting up in broad daylight at a bustling Midtown plaza. City officials called the situation at Broadway and 40th Street “entirely unacceptable,” and vowed to clear out the addicts and get them help.

The plaza was cleaned, but people were spotted shooting up at the site again Wednesday morning.
