“Marvel Racks Up 19 Emmy Nominations, Moon Knight Leads the Way With Eight Noms”
Moon Knight began airing on Disney+ on March 30th and was received well by audiences and critics. The story follows Steven Grant (Oscar Isaac), who’s been granted the powers of an Egyptian moon god. However, he soon finds out that his newfound powers can be both a blessing and a curse to his troubled life. Throughout the series, Grant deals with Dissociative Identity Disorder, forcing Oscar Isaac to essentially play three parts throughout the series. Fans of Moon Knight believed the actor deserved a nomination for his work on the project. However, it seems the Emmys have overlooked the talent associated with the roles in all the MCU TV series.
It’s a bit of a surprise that actors like Isaac, Ethan Hawke, Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson, Sophia Di Martino, Jeremy Renner, Hailee Steinfeld, and Florence Pugh we’re all ignored this year. The MCU and Disney+ seemed to be breaking into the competitive Emmy Award season last year when WandaVision received 23 nominations, including Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, and Kathryn Hahn receiving individual nominations for their performances.
You can check out the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards on Sept. 12th and pay attention to all the Marvel Cinematic Universe shows to see just how many trophies they can bring home.
Marvel is Hoping for a Big Night This September
Loki, What If…?, and Hawkeye all have chances to bring home multiple Emmys on Sept. 12th, and Marvel is hoping for a massive night. Loki received six nominations, including Outstanding Production Design for a Narrative Period or Fantasy Program, Outstanding Cinematography for a Single-Camera Series, Outstanding Fantasy Sci/Fi Costumes, Outstanding Music Composition for a Series, Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music, and Outstanding Sound Editing for a Comedy/Drama series.
What If…? received two nominations, including a posthumous nomination for Chadwick Boseman in Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance alongside Jeffrey Wright. The series also received a nod for the Outstanding Animated Program category. In addition, Hawkeye would also receive recognition in two categories, including Outstanding Stunt Coordination for a Comedy Series or Variety Program and Outstanding Stunt Performance.
If you’re patiently waiting for the latest MCU show to hit Disney+, the wait is almost over as She-Hulk: Attorney at Law reaches the streaming giant on Aug. 17th.
