The second single from Sad Romance Deluxe comes with a video that casts “Africa’s Boyfriend” in an island romance.

They call CKay “Africa’s Boyfriend,” and his new single is certainly swoon-worthy. The afrobeats singer released the original Sad Romance last Septebmer., and an expanded version is set for release this month. “nwayi” follows up “HALLELUJAH (feat. Blaquebonez)” as the second taste of Sad Romance Deluxe.
In the “nwayi” video — shot in Lagos, Nigeria and directed by Ahmed Mosh — CKay plays opposite his love interest in a series of romantic scenes. First they’re on a beach, then in a horse-drawn carriage, and finally at some sort of tropical artist collective. The song is appropriately breezy and seductive, with wisps of melancholy flitting around the edges. Watch below.
