“CinemaCon Reveals New Posters for the DCEU’s Upcoming Movies”
The Warner Bros. presentation at CinemaCon included the first look at new posters for Aquaman, Shazam, Black Adam and The Flash.
The line-up of posters includes all of the dates that the movies have landed on since the big shuffle Warner Bros. brought to their slate back in March, when many of their upcoming comic book films were pushed back with the exception of Shazam! Fury of the Gods, which was unexpectedly pulled forward in the schedule. Currently, this means that League of Super-Pets will be the next movie to arrive on July 29, followed by Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam on October 21, and Shazam! Fury of the Gods on December 16.
2023 will kick off with Jason Momoa’s return as Arthur Curry in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom on March 17, and then The Flash finally premieres on June 23. Somewhere after this is Blue Beetle, but that is obviously too far out to have a feature poster in this year’s CinemaCon collection. CinemaCon runs from today through to Thursday, and Tuesday will see Warner Bros. make their presentation which will see new footage released from Black Adam, and a first look at Shazam! Fury of the Gods.
Warner Bros. Upcoming Movies Face Potential Issues Due To Their Stars
While Black Adam and Shazam! Fury of the Gods are expected to bring some big box office returns for the DCEU, next year’s line-up of movies is likely to be overshadowed by events happening outside the superhero world that they inhabit. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom has been under constant calls from supporters of Johnny Depp to have Amber Heard replaced in the movie. Depending on the result of their ongoing trial, if things go Depp’s way, there is likely to be a lot of noise made about the movie that may or may not end up hurting it at the box office. In addition, Warner Bros. have now had to contend with Ezra Miller’s recent arrests for disorderly conduct in Hawaii, which has caused doubts recently about Miller’s future in the DCEU as The Flash.
With both Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and The Flash done filming it would take some massive upheaval for Warner Bros. to begin switching actors in either of these movies. That doesn’t mean that fans will not put their opinions forward online and make plenty of noise on social media, and that could end up causing unwanted attention for the studio. While they day there is no such thing as bad publicity, with the cinematic landscape still on shaky ground following the Covid pandemic, there is a need for the big blockbusters to perform the way a big blockbuster should. Anything less than that, and there could be some hefty losses to be considered.
