Baseball is America’s pastime, but football is king in the country right now.
Ciara understood the assignment at the Met Gala Monday night, which was themed, “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion.”
The singer showed up to the New York City-based ball in a lime-green sequined dress, inspired by her husband, Seahawks quarterback, Russell Wilson. Ciara sported his jersey number (No. 3) — and his Super Bowl XLVIII ring, when Seattle beat Denver 43–8 in Feb. 2014.
“My Hubby’s color rush Seahawks jersey transformed into a dress + His Super Bowl XLVIII ring = EVERYTHING!” Ciara wrote in a post on Instagram, alongside a collage of red carpet photos at the Met.
Wilson, who was not present at the annual gala, commented, “My queen. My Everything.” The star QB is preparing for Week 2, when Seattle hosts Tennessee looking for a 2-0 start after beating Indianapolis in their opener on Sunday.

Ciara’s custom dress was designed by Peter Dundas, and was also inspired by Geoffrey Beene’s jersey dress — a sequined design that emulated a Minnesota Vikings jersey in the 1960s.
Her look featured side cutouts, exaggerated shoulders and an open back. She accessorized with a bedazzled football clutch, and wore her long, blonde-brown hair in a voluminous ponytail. Ciara’s hairstylist César DeLeön Ramîrez (also known as cesar4styles on Instagram) used Paul Mitchell and The Wild Form products.

Dundas also dressed Ciara in a custom cut-out dress at the 2019 Met Gala. The emerald, embellished design included matching gloves, a belt and choker, along with a feathered train.
