Chris Brown is notorious for having lengthy tracklists for his recent albums. While giving a select few industry insiders a glimpse into his upcoming tenth studio effort Breezy, the R&B singer understood he had to scale down a bit from previous releases, although not by much.

“23 tracks,” Brown told Big Boy of Big Boy’s Neighborhood how many songs would appear on the new album. “It’s crazy in the album process because let’s just say I put out an album like the Indigo album. While I was about to put that out, I was already recording songs and doing stuff for the next one. But I be having so many songs, I think for this actual project I had almost 250 songs. I was like, ‘Yeah, we gotta scale this down and figure out what to do!’”

After Big Boy recalls Indigo having so many songs, he teased Brown by mentioning how he finally finished the album on the way over to Brown’s house.

Breezy is due out June 24 with a lengthy guest list, including longtime collaborators Lil Wayne, Tory Lanez, Anderson .Paak, Jack Harlow, Fivio Foreign, EST Gee, Blxst, Yung Bleu, WizKid, H.E.R. and Ella Mai. The 23-track project is a much more trimmed-down release than Brown’s previous double albums, 2017’s Heartbreak On A Full Moon and 2019’s Indigo, which both contained 45 songs.

Brown’s longevity since he broke out as a teenager has prompted numerous stars and pundits across entertainment to proclaim he’s more talented than his idol Michael Jackson. Fivio gave credence to the belief, boldly proclaiming Brown is the “new” King Of Pop after producer London On Da Track pondered on Twitter about who could rival MJ in modern times.
