The film’s story focuses on Kanna (CV: Aju Makita), a girl who can no longer face her beloved “running” after her mother’s passing. One day, a rabbit named Shiro (Maaya Sakamoto), who is a shinshi (a messenger of gods), and a boy named Yasha (Miyu Irino), an oni (ogre) boy, appear at her. Kanna crosses the boundary between people and gods, and is invited into Izumo. .

The protagonist Kanna’s deceased mother, Yayoi Hayama, is confirmed to be played by Ko Shibasaki (Mika in 47 Ronin), and her father, Norimasa Hayama, who supports Kanna with his own hands, is voiced by Arata Iura (Mildrath in Dragon Quest: Your Story).

Shibasaki says, “I believe this is a universal work even in today’s turbulent world. I hope that both adults and children will be able to look forward to ‘Child of Kamiari Month’.” Then Iura adds, “‘Child Kamiari Month’ is not only a story of a family, but also a journey to the origin of Japan through the myth of Izumo. Please come and see it at the theater.”
