#Chicago in trouble after trade selloff

The season has not gone the way either the Colorado Rockies or starting pitcher Kyle Freeland had hoped, but both are playing some of their best baseball of late and will look to add to the Chicago Cubs’ misery on Tuesday.

Freeland had a 9.58 ERA through five starts, with nine home runs allowed. But he has allowed three runs or fewer in each of his seven starts since, with a 1.98 ERA and two home runs allowed in 41 innings.

Cubs starter Zach Davies has issued the most walks in MLB (58), and since he started a combined no-hitter June 24, the Cubs are 1-5 in his past six starts and have provided him four runs or fewer of support in all five losses.

The Rockies lead the NL in home batting average (.276), while the Cubs rank 29th (.216) on the road. After last week’s trades, Patrick Wisdom is the lone player on the active roster who has hit more than five home runs away from Wrigley Field.

The Cubs rank 26th in bullpen ERA over past 30 days (5.46). Combined with their current 4-15 road skid, expect the Cubs’ swoon to continue.

THE PLAY: Rockies, -155.
