If you need a little scheming in your day, then check out the non-credit opening animation for The Genius Prince’s Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt, the currently broadcasting TV anime adaptation based on the comic fantasy light novel series written by Toru Toba and illustrated by Falmaro about a lazy but witty young noble who is too clever for his own good.

 

The video (below) features the official opening theme song for the series, entitled “LEVEL”, which is performed by Nagi Yanagi x THE SIXTH LIE.

 

 

The original The Genius Prince’s Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt (Hey, How About Treason?) light novels are published in Japan by SB Creative under their GA Bunko imprint, and an English language version of the series is also available from Yen Press. Funimation describes the story of the series as follows:

 

While revered as a genius, Prince Wein’s kingdom is struggling in finances and in military force. In order to get his sweet dream of early retirement, all he has to do is simply sell off the kingdom. But when his schemes result in accidental victories, his ideal life fades away. Now with his kingdom moving in an unexpected direction, he’s in for tons of work that’ll require his wisdom and wit.

The Genius Prince’s Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt is directed by Masato Tamagawa and features animation production by Yokohama Animation Laboratory. The series is currently broadcasting in Japan on TOKYO MX, BS NTV, and AT-X, and it is also streaming in the United States via Funimation as part of their winter 2022 anime simulcast lineup.
