#’Castle’ where Phil Spector killed Lana Clarkson sells for $3.3M

The Beatles’ “Let It Be” producer Phil Spector fell from grace when he was convicted of murdering Lana Clarkson in his Los Angeles home.

Almost two decades later, the late Spector’s 11,000-square-foot “Pyrenees Castle” sold for $3.3 million, a huge discount from its original $5.5 million listing price in 2019 as part of a divorce settlement.

Although the red-roofed, white mansion with multiple turrets offers 360-degree views of San Gabriel Valley on a 2.5-acre hill, the property had trouble selling, according to Realtor.com — perhaps, in part, due to its infamous history.

Legendary “Wall of Sound” pioneer Spector met 40-year-old actress and model Lana Clarkson at the House of Blues VIP Foundation Room during a night out in 2003 and invited her to the nine bedroom, seven-and-a-half bathroom home drenched in heavy, dark, old-world luxury.

Spector’s wife Rachelle — who he married three years later in 2006 — ripped out the foyer’s red carpets in favor of a limestone tiled floor. A crystal chandelier still hangs over the foyer’s carpeted stairs, and across the hall, glass doors lead to a covered terrace, according to the listing.

“I ripped up the carpet. It was red and had stains I couldn’t get out,” his now ex-wife Rachelle told the Daily Mail in 2009

The pair separated in 2016 and agreed to split the proceeds of the home sale, but the 81-year-old convict died in jail in January 2021 from complications from COVID-19. Rachelle lived in the house until January, when it appears to have gone under contract.

The then large-haired Spector bought the house in 1998 for $1.1 million and lived there for 11 years with his three iguanas and, for a few years with his wife Rachelle, until he was sentenced for second-degree murder in 2009.

Spector had a number of abuse allegations against him from his ex-wife Ronnie and his three adopted children, Louis, Gary and Donté. He also had a son Phillip, who died of leukemia in 1991, and a daughter Nicole who has filed for control of his posthumous estate, according to the Blast.
