During a Bushiroad livestream event celebrating the New Year, the company announced that its multimedia franchise Cardfight!! Vanguard will have nine more anime seasons heading into 2025. The current second season of Cardfight!! Vanguard will + Dress will premiere on January 14, 2023. 

The main voice cast for will + Dress includes Shouta Aoi as Yuuyu Kondou, Yuuki Ono as Danji Momoyama, Yuuma Uchida as Touya Ebata, Amane Shindou as Megumi Ookura, Masahiro Itou as Zakusa Ishigame, Hikaru Toono as Tomari Seto, Shuuta Morishima as Masanori Iseki, and Yuki Nakashima as Mirei Minae.

The production staff includes Ken Mori (The Rising of the Shield Hero monster designer) as director and co-scriptwriter, Ryuutarou Suzuki (Revue Starlight movie unit director) as assistant director, Hiroyuki Saita (Revue Starlight character designer) as character designer and chief animation director, CLAMP as the original character designers, Natsuko Takahashi (Farewell, My Dear Cramer) as an additional co-scriptwriter, and Momoko Toyoda (Shadows House scriptwriter) as assistant screenwriter.

Other staff members include Takeshi Takakura (Revue Starlight co-mecha designer) as mechanical designer, Sayaka Kashiwamura (The Millionaire Detective Balance: UNLIMITED co-art director) as art director, Hikari Komiya (Revue Starlight: Rondo Rondo Rondo assistant color designer) as color designer, Natsuki Takei (Fire Force Season 2 co-assistant photography director) as photography director, and Hijiri Kuwano (Melody of Oblivion co-music composer) as music composer. Kinema Citrus, Gifuto Animation, and STUDIO JEMI are each co-handling the animation production for the series. 

The first season of Cardfight!! Vanguard will+Dress aired in July 2022, featuring 16 new fighters who compete in a special tournament. The will+Dress series is a follow-up to Cardfight!! Vanguard overDress, which ran from April 3, 2021 to December 28, 2021. HIDIVE streamed the series in select English-speaking countries and territories.

Yuyu, Raika, and Touya were invited to America after their win in the “Deluxe” tournament in Japan, and went on a tour of exhibition matches.

It was one blazing fight after another as their opponents were all top ranking fighters from Deluxe USA. Danji, who had arrived earlier in America to look into the background of the Deluxe tournament at Michiru’s behest, begins to suspect a connection with the case of the missing fighters. Meanwhile, a new force emerges in Japan, with their ideal of achieving the “Ultimate Fight” in cardfights.

What is their goal of recruiting more and more fighters? This will eventually come to cast a shadow upon the future of Yuyu and the rest of Blackout…
