The original manga series by Adachitoka was first serialized in Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Magazine on December 6, 2010 and concluded on January 6, 2024. A total of 27 tankobon volumes were released during its publication. The series also inspired the Noragami: Stray Stories side story manga, which were released across three tankobon volumes. Kodansha USA publishes both series in English for release in North America.

The manga inspired two anime seasons from Bones, which were directed by Josee, the Tiger and the Fish‘s Kotaro Tamura with character designs from Toshihiro Kawamoto (Blood Blockade Battlefront & Beyond, Metallic Rouge) that aired in 2014 and 2015.

Kodansha USA publishes the manga under the title Noragami: Stray God, and describes the main story as:

Yato is a homeless god. He doesn’t even have a shrine, not to mention worshippers! So to achieve his ambitious goals, he’s set up a service to help those in need (for a small fee), hoping he’ll eventually raise enough money to build himself the lavish temple of his dreams. Of course, he can’t afford to be picky, so Yato accepts all kinds of jobs, from finding lost kittens to helping a student overcome bullies at school.
