#California man accused of killing wife at Kohl’s store

A man is accused of murdering his estranged wife in front of their son at a California Kohl’s department store on Tuesday night, a report said.

After his alleged attack, suspect Enrique Acosta, 41, fled the store in the city of Whitter. But he was caught by police Wednesday and booked on suspicion of murder, the Whittier Daily News reported.

Authorities did not disclose the victim’s name, but a GoFundMe page identified her as Yvonne Rodriguez.

Whittier police spokesman told the newspaper that a child was present at the time of the shooting. The GoFundMe page description identified the youngster as the estranged couple’s 8-year-old son.

The mother also left behind a 22-year-old daughter, according to the fundraising page.

“We are deeply saddened and shocked by the fatal shooting of a woman inside of our Whittier store on Tuesday evening,” Julia Fennelly, a spokeswoman for Kohl’s, told the Whittier Daily News in a statement.

“Our deepest sympathies go out to the victim and her family.”
