“#BL Anime Film given Has Sold Impressive 100,000 Tickets in 4 Weeks”

The anime film adaptation of Natsuki Kizu's boys-love manga given has stayed at No.1 on Kogyotsushinsha's Mini Theater Ranking for four consecutive weeks since its release of August 22. Then, the film's official Twitter confirmed today that it had already sold more than 100,000 tickets in Japan.

The film was originally scheduled to be released on May 16 but had been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Fortunately, the postponement didn't seem to affect the box office result at all.

It had only 30 theaters in its opening weekend. Due to the box office success, 54 more theaters across Japan will start screening the film from September 25 and onward, and the moviegoers in its fifth weekend from September 19 will receive a character illustration card newly drawn by the original manga author Kizu until supplies last. The illustration features one of the four protagonists, Ugetu Mirata, with a big smile on his face.

Prior to the film, the TV anime given was aired for 11 episodes from July to September 2019 on Fuji TV's midnight programming block Noitamina. And this sequel film focuses on the love relationship among the band given's bassist Haruki Nakayama, drummer Akihiko Kaji, and Akihiko's roommate /ex-boyfriend Ugetsu Murata.

Somehow, the guitar that he used to love to play and the basketball games that he found so fun just lost their appeal… That was until Ritsuka Uenoyama randomly met Mafuyu Sato. Ritsuka had started losing his passion for music in his everyday life, but then he hears Mafuyu sing for the first time. The song resonates with his heart and the distance between them starts to change.
