Bun B, Kid Cudi and Questlove are among those who have paid tribute to actor Andre Braugher following news of his death.

Braugher passed away on Monday (December 11) at the age of 61 following a “brief illness,” his representative Jennifer Allen told The Hollywood Reporter.

The actor was predominantly known for his role as Raymond Holt (a.k.a. Captain Holt) in the police comedy series Brooklyn Nine-Nine, as well as playing Detective Frank Pembleton in police drama Homicide: Life on the Street.

He won two Emmy Awards from a total of 11 nominations across his career.

Bun B took to his Instagram Stories to mourn Andre Braugher, telling a story about the time he bumped into him in New York City.

“Met him once in the streets of NYC,” he wrote. “Thanked him for being a credit to his craft. Couldn’t have been more kind. RIP Captain!”

Kid Cudi, who had a cameo appearance in the first season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, recalled a conversation they had about relationships.

“This fuckin sucks,” he said on Twitter/X. “I worked w Andre on B99 years ago. I remember I asked him for relationship advice and he was so cool and easy. Ill never forget that moment being in his presence. RIP Andre.”

Cudi starred as Dustin Whitman in the episode “48 Hours,” playing a man suspected of robbing a jewelry store.

Questlove also paid tribute to Andre Braugher and his many acting roles, stating he would watch television shows simply because he starred in them.

“Damn man. One of my fav character actors (Homicide: Life On The Streets/Gideon’s Crossing/Hack/Thief/Men Of A Certain Age/Law & Order/of course Brooklyn Nine Nine & his last series The Good Fight)——-man I would commit to a show on the strength of him being a character,” he wrote.

“Wow man this is sad for his loved ones and family and friends and for the legions of fans who loved his work. Rest in Power #AndreBraugher.”

Brooklyn Nine-Nine co-star Terry Crews also paid tribute to Braugher, describing his hurt and thanking him for their friendship.

“Can’t believe you’re gone so soon,” he wrote on Instagram. “I’m honored to have known you, laughed with you, worked with you and shared 8 glorious years watching your irreplaceable talent.

“This hurts. You left us too soon. You taught me so much. I will be forever grateful for the experience of knowing you. Thank you for your wisdom, your advice, your kindness and your friendship.”

He added: “Deepest condolences to your wife and family in this difficult time. You showed me what a life well lived looks like. Rest In Peace, Andre. I love you, man.”
