#Bruce Campbell Is Writing His Own Comic Book, Is He Team Marvel or DC?

Bruce Campbell may be seemingly done with starring as Ash Williams in The Evil Dead, but as well as being producer on the upcoming Evil Dead Rise, the iconic actor still has quite a lot lined up in the future. While speaking to Bloody Disgusting’s The Boo Crew Podcast, Campbell revealed that along with upcoming acting roles, the first of which is horror-comedy Black Friday that is released this Friday, he has been working on a comic book series for one of the big comic book companies.

“I’m writing a comic book for a major comic book company right now,” Bruce Campbell said while discussing his writing process. “And it’s six issues that you’ve gotta plot out. And I cannot just sit there with a pen in my mouth… looking at a blank page… I want to figure it out scene by scene and know where the story’s going.”

He continued, “Cause I can actually step back from that board and look at the entire story and go, ‘Hmm, that first part’s a little lopsided… ohh that middle’s a little fat over there.’ So you can get to it before you even write a word. It still may suck, granted, but I like going in with some kind of discipline. I’ll start early in the morning and by noon my brain is leaking out through my nose and it’s time to cut the grass or go swimming or something physical.”

While there is not a lot to go from, knowing Campbell’s main body of work makes this comic book series something intriguing and one that will be worth watching for when it comes out. While it certainly isn’t the expected thing we would have thought would come from Campbell, he has a huge fan base that will be very responsive to it and make it the kind of cult hit that has followed his movie and TV career for the last four decades.

For those who want to relive some of those hits, now is also a good time thanks to the release of The Evil Dead Groovy Collection, the new boxed set that brings together The Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2 and all three seasons of Ash vs. Evil Dead in glorious blood-soaked 4K Ultra HD + Blu-Ray + Digital for a retail price of $79.99.

The collection’s official blurb describes it as, “Horror fans, return to that iconic cabin in the woods, then travel decades beyond it, with this Evil Dead Groovy Collection. Wisecracking ladies’ man Ash Williams (Bruce Campbell) is reborn as a slayer of Deadites in The Evil Dead (4K + Blu-ray™) after a vacation in the country is ruined by the reading of an ancient demon-summoning text. In Evil Dead II (4K + Blu-ray™), a chainsaw-armed Ash is pushed to the brink of madness by unhinged evil yet again, while Ash vs Evil Dead (Blu-ray™) follows an older, grayer Ash over three wild seasons as he reckons with his bloody past in the face of a Deadite plague. Includes {The Evil Dead} Bonus Content DVD, with over three hours of features revisiting the film’s cast, crew, and undying legacy.”

Those wanting to see something newer from the groovy one, along with this weekend’s Black Friday release, Campbell also appears in the Hallmark Christmas movie One December Night, which premiered on Saturday and see’s the other side of the actor in “a wonderful heartfelt Christmas tale about friendship, music, family and the things that ultimately bring us all together.”
