The block bearing Bedford-Stuyvesant’s massive Black Lives Matter mural will become a pedestrian-only plaza for the duration of the summer, Mayor Bill de Blasio said Monday.

“Fulton Street in Brooklyn will share the message that #BlackLivesMatter all summer long,” Hizzoner posted on Twitter.

“We’re making the block pedestrians-only and working with the MTA to coordinate nearby transit.”

The mural, painted over the weekend, runs along the block of Fulton Street between Marcy and Brooklyn avenues

The Bed-Stuy mural was approved by the city but is not part of the mayor’s separate initiative to paint and rename streets in all five boroughs to honor the Black Lives Matter movement.

It was not immediately clear how the MTA plans to re-route buses around the block.

“We’re very supportive of the City’s tribute and are working to mitigate any impacts to customers to the degree possible,” was all MTA rep Tim Minton said in a statement.

The B25, which serves the block, carried 8,000 riders per day before the coronavirus pandemic.
