#Bronx woman Alexis Adams arrested for assaulting MTA conductor with pumpkin

A Bronx woman was arrested for bashing a Metro-North conductor in the face with a pumpkin after she was told to get off a train, authorities said Friday.

Alexis Adams, 21, attacked the conductor on Oct. 11 at around 6 p.m., whacking her in the noggin with the pumpkin and unloading multiple punches on the conductor’s face and head, according to the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office.

The conductor had told Adams to get off at the next stop because Adams didn’t show a ticket when asked, the DA said.

The conductor was transported to a local hospital where she received medical treatment for her injuries, including multiple stitches.

Adams was charged with two counts of second degree assault on Oct. 22, and a warrant was issued for her arrest. She was arrested by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority Police, who led the investigation, and was arraigned in Mount Vernon City Court on Oct. 28.

Adams is scheduled to appear again in court on Nov. 10.

MTA leadership praised the arrest, saying it sent message attacks on workers wouldn’t be tolerated.

“Throughout the pandemic, we have called upon our conductors to do more than ever before,” Catherine Rinaldi, president of MTA Metro-North Railroad said in a statement.

“They need to know that we are absolutely committed to making their work environment as safe as possible.”
