#Bronx BP Ruben Diaz Jr. to endorse Eric Adams for mayor

Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. is endorsing Brooklyn Beep Eric Adams for mayor — a move that could give the candidate an important boost among Latino voters in the Democratic primary.

Adams is set to formally receive Diaz’s support at a press conference Monday morning in The Bronx, said the mayoral hopeful’s camp in a release Sunday.

“Borough President Diaz is the city’s strongest, most effective leader on behalf of the Bronx and Latino New Yorkers — and I am honored to have his support,” Adams told The Post on Sunday in a statement, which he also tweeted.

“Ruben & I are from different boroughs, but we come from the same place, & together, we’ll fight to make this City fairer for all,” his tweet added.

Diaz, referring to his endorsement of Adams to the New York Times on Sunday, said, “There have been so many issues where I witnessed firsthand how much Eric loves New York, but also how critical it is to have someone who has the life experience of a New Yorker to help inform them about how to fight for all New Yorkers.”

Adams is facing opponents including former presidential hopeful Andrew Yang and city Comptroller Scott Stringer in the party primary June 22.

Yang is currently leading in the polls, with Adams in second place.

Latinos typically make up about 20 percent of the city’s Democratic primary-race voters.

Adams, a former NYPD captain, has already received the backing of other Latino city leaders including former Bronx Borough President Fernando Ferrer.

He and Diaz previously served together in the state legislature, when Diaz was an assemblyman and Adams a senator.
