#Breonna Taylor’s mother hopeful for justice after meeting with Kentucky AG

Breonna Taylor’s mother said Thursday that she is patiently hoping for justice after Kentucky’s Attorney General assured her he was still investigating her EMT daughter’s death during a police raid.

Tamika Palmer met with the state’s top prosecutor, Daniel Cameron, for the first time Wednesday. Cameron is investigating the Louisville Metro cops who shot dead Taylor, 26, while carrying out a no-knock warrant in March — looking for a suspect who was already in custody.

The AG told the family he did not want to rush the investigation because “he wants to have the right answer,” Palmer told reporters in a press conference on the steps of Louisville city hall on Thursday.

“For me, I’m trying to accept that and be patient with that,” she said.

The grieving mom noted how it had been “150 days — five months” since her daughter’s death, saying, “Every day is still March the 13th.”

“There definitely shouldn’t be another Breonna Taylor, anywhere,” she said, saying she was “grateful to the people saying her name” during protests across the country.

“At this point it’s bigger than Breonna, it’s bigger than just black lives. It’s about bridging the gaps between us and the police,” she said.

Despite the meeting, attorneys for Taylor’s family said they still did not have much cooperation from authorities — including the names of all the officers at the botched raid as well as ballistics reports.

They also derided the “joke” police report which was almost empty and which the family has called a “slap in the face.”

One of the attorneys, Lonita Baker, said the Attorney General “did not give a timeline” for the probe, saying, “We’re not going to wait forever. We do want this resolved quickly and accurately so that Ms. Palmer and her family can get some answers.”

Civil rights lawyer Ben Crump also attacked the police for initially keeping the investigation in-house, saying they tried to “justify the justifiable” in the “execution of Breonna Taylor.”

“I absolutely expect there to be charges based on the evidence,” Crump said as he stood alongside Palmer.

“We believe that the people who caused her death should be held accountable. Whether that’s two or four (officers), somebody needs to be held accountable.”
