A boy who suffered debilitating injuries when he was thrown 100 feet from a balcony of the Tate Modern in London finally visited his family home a year after the attack.

The child, 6, whose name has not been released, was taken home for a weekend and “happy to see his toys again” after being hospitalized since the August 2019 tragedy, his family told organizers behind a GoFundMe for his medical bills.

His French family said the boy, who has to use a wheelchair and splints to move around, also went to the sea to build sandcastles with a friend.

“He also returned at home for the first time. Just for a weekend,” the family said in a statement. “And he was super happy to see his house and his toys again, even though he couldn’t go upstairs to see his room.”

Jonty Bravery, 18, was convicted for attempted murder and jailed this June after admitting to throwing the boy from the balcony.

The boy suffered fractured bones and bleeding of the brain, according to past reports. He spent time recovering at the Royal London Hospital before being transferred to a hospital in France.

His family said the boy has been progressing and that he is able to support more of his weight when they practice walking together.

“He now also manages to climb one or two steps, always with our help,” the family went on. “In addition, his breath and memory improve enough that he begins to try singing, and to learn to read, little by little.”

Bravery had been diagnosed with autism and authorities responsible for his care at the Hammersmith and Fulham Council are investigating his case and what led up to the attack, the BBC reported.

A spokesman for Tate Modern told the outlet that “a full security review was undertaken” after the attack to ensure public safety.

Generous donors have raised the equivalent of more than $327,000 for the boy’s recovery.

“Rest assured that your help and your messages are helping us to hold on, the family said. We are deeply grateful to you.”
