#Boy, 2, dies after shooting himself with dad’s gun in North Carolina motel

A two-year-old boy shot himself dead while playing with his dad’s gun in a North Carolina motel — one of three youngsters hit in similar accidents in just five days, according to police.

Little Amor Cureton was pronounced dead at a hospital in Charlotte Sunday after he was found with an apparent accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound after finding the weapon, the Charlotte Observer said.

His dad, Antonio Thomas Cureton, 24, was busted for a slew of charges, including involuntary manslaughter and failure to secure a firearm to protect a minor, records show.

“There’s a 2-year-old little boy who should still be with us…and is not,” Charlotte-Mecklenburg police Maj. Ryan Butler told WBTV.

“And if that doesn’t stir you to some level of awareness that there’s far too much violence going on in this city,” he said, calling it “a tragedy for Charlotte.”

Cureton was also charged with the unlawful possession of firearms by a convicted felon after a police dog found another weapon in the Economy Inn motel, the reports said. He was being held on a combined bond of $100,000 before a Tuesday court hearing, the records show.

“LOCK UP YOUR GUNS!” the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department warned in a tweet.

“In just five days, two 2-year-olds and a 7-year-old have been shot because a gun was left unsecured. Do your part to protect children,” the force warned. No other details were revealed of the two other youngsters or the severity of their injuries.
