Boosie Badazz is getting real about the marijuana hypocrisy plaguing this country. The “Mop Wit It” rapper took to Twitter to express his frustration with the drastic difference in marijuana laws across the country and commented on the hypocrisy JAY-Z is fighting to end.

“It’s crazy how some states u can get real time for selling weed n some states u can get real rich for selling weed,” Boosie tweeted out. “Who do I need to call about this shit cause this is sad.”

Unbeknownst to Boosie, JAY-Z has been fighting to fix these hypocrisies for a while through his MONOGRAM cannabis line. In 2021, he launched a campaign to highlight these harsh marijuana laws. That same year, Hov also advocated for the release of Valon M. Vailes, a North Carolina man who was 13 years into a 20-year prison sentence for a non-violent marijuana charge.

Vailes story caught JAY-Z’s attention after he penned a heartfelt letter to the legendary rapper, applauding him for his social justice work and pointing out the hypocritical nature of his sentencing.

“This correspondence is a plea to ask for your help with the intent to campaign for my clemency,” Vailes’ letter began.“13 and a half years is a long time to be still incarcerated over a substance that has become the ultimate green rush. It is a bittersweet reality that I am a casualty and a commodity of this system filled with injustice.”

He added he feels “some type of way” about remaining behind bars while marijuana becomes legalized across the country.

Regardless of both rappers having unintentionally found some common ground in regard to marijuana laws, chances are they won’t be unifying behind the cause anytime soon.In 2020, Boosie experienced major backlash after making transphobic comments about Dwyane Wade’s 12-year-old daughter and Jay demanded that he apologize to Wade for those statements, which Boosie declined to do.

“Nah, they already tried to do that. They was trying to hook up some shit with a meeting,” Boosie said on The Breakfast Club. “They say JAY-Z was gonna get him on the phone and all that shit. I need to apologize to save this and save that.

“I’m not apologizing for shit. I don’t give a fuck if Jesus calling to get me to apologize. I said what I said, man. I felt that was right.”
