#Body Found of 17-Year-Old Swimmer Who Got Lost in Florida Rip Current

The body of a 17-year-old who went missing while swimming at Jensen Beach in Florida on Monday has been found, according to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.

Local news outlet WESH reported that Nick Alincy was going for an “early morning swim” on Monday after taking pictures with his girlfriend on the beach when he got caught up in a rip current that dragged him out to sea. After a day of Marine Units, Aviation, Dive Teams, Patrol Deputies and Detectives searching for the missing teen, the sheriff’s office offered an update on their Facebook page

“Nick’s body was located about five miles south from where he was last seen in the water yesterday morning.  We offer our deepest condolences to his loved ones,” the post read.

“We would like to thank all of our first responder partners, Martin County Fire Rescue, The US Coast Guard, Jupiter Island Police, FWC and all of the private vessel operators and citizens who worked tirelessly alongside of MCSO to help locate Nick and bring closure to his loved ones,” the post continued.

Alincy was a student at St. Lucie West Centennial High School and a member of the PSL Hurricanes Soccer Club, according to West Palm Beach’s WPTV. On Tuesday, his coach spoke to the outlet to remember the late player.

“Nick was always with a smile,” Ardeljan said. “He lit up the field whenever he stepped on it, would never leave without giving a hug and snapped his fingers after he gave his hug, and that was Nick. He was full of sunshine.”

In addition to being a member of a league when he was a child, Alincy stayed and became a coach to the kids’ recreational team, which Ardeljan told WPTV was an example of Alincy’s “love for the kids.”

“Even when he’s not coaching, he was helping out,” Ardeljan shared.

The Soccer Club planned a vigil for Tuesday night in “celebration” of Alincy’s life, according to a Facebook post.

“Nick was a cherished member of our soccer family, and we believe it is essential to come together to honor his memory and provide support to his family and friends during this difficult time,” the post read.

The statement continued, “In moments like this, the strength of our community shines, and together, we can provide comfort and support to those who need it most. Thank you for your understanding, compassion, and support. We hope to see you at the vigil tonight as we remember Nick and the impact he had on all of our lives.”
