#Blackpink plans livestream concert amid COVID-19 pandemic

They’re making it K-pop off the small screen.

South Korean girl group Blackpink is circumventing the coronavirus lockdown by holding their premiere virtual concert later this month.

“We hope everyone can comfortably enjoy our first-ever livestream concert ‘The Show’ at home,” the group said in a statement.

“The Show” will air Dec. 27 at 12 a.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) exclusively on YouTube, a platform on which Blackpink is the second-most popular artist after Justin Bieber, Rolling Stone reported. Blinks — the group’s rabid fans — will be treated to a medley of songs from the K-pop quartet’s highly touted “The Album,” which was released in October. The record debuted at No. 2 on the Rolling Stone Top 200 chart and racked up more than 90,000 album sales, making it the highest-selling LP that week.

Viewers can click “join” on Blackpink’s YouTube channel to buy tickets to “The Show,” whose standard package runs fans $29.99 and includes access to the livestream, rebroadcast and custom emojis. A $39.99 package features additional behind-the-scenes content.

More details will be disclosed Friday at midnight EST when Blackpink makes an appearance on its YouTube channel.

“We wanted to end the year with something very special for our Blinks who have been waiting so patiently for us,” Blackpink said. “Overall, we’re super excited to share this fun moment with our Blinks and we can’t wait till ‘The Show.’ “
