#Black Country, New Road address alien abuse in “Concorde” video

Released in November, “Concorde” is the third single from their forthcoming record, Ants From Up There.

Black Country, New Road have shared a new video for “Concorde,” the third single from their forthcoming sophomore LP, Ants From Up There, out February 4 on Ninja Tune. Released November 30, the track came after the band’s early October album announcement and lead single, “Chaos Space Marine,” and its follow-up, “Bread Song,” neither of which has received a visual treatment.

“Concorde” is sandwiched between these earlier singles, both on Ants‘ tracklist and aesthetically. Where “Chaos Space Marine” returns to the klezmer-prog bombast of BCNR’s February 2021 debut, For the First Time, and “Bread Song” sounds surprisingly like a Big Thief cut, the new track ranges bridges the two poles — though it technically does so backwards, album-wise.

In its video, a maroon-skinned alien sings Isaac Wood’s emotional vocal line while being dragged through an army detention camp by an unsympathetic officer. Over the course of the short, he is punched, prodded, and placed in front of a firing squad before a flying saucer comes to his rescue in the film’s final moments. Watch it above.
