The cause of death to victim Yui Sasakawa was suffocation—specifically, she was “strangled” by hands. However, the hand marks on her neck are only as large as the hands of an infant. And the photograph of the crime scene showed a doll that should nto have been at the scene.

—Investigation File #2

■ Characters

Ichirou Tanaka

  • Age: 54

Shin Hayarigami 3

Chief of the First Investigation Division of the G Prefectural Police, which is in charge of investigating violent crimes such as murder and robbery. Your typical dog who does not rock the boat, lacks power, and is unquestionably obedient to his superiors. In addition to the many mysterious cases that occur, Saki and Sena—who work under the police chief’s commands—and the transfers of Niimi and Kouketsu—who were the aces of the First Investigation Division—are the sources of his constant worry.

Blond-Haired Prince

  • Age: Unknown

Shin Hayarigami 3

A mysterious foreign man who drives a red sports car, and shows up at the scene of the crime and the G Prefectural Police Station. His name and identity are completely unknown, but he is called a “Prince” due to his showy appearance. Among detectives, his various actions are tolerated as “extraterritorial rights,” and everyone avoids getting involved and looks the other way.

■ Sukima Roku

As you progress through the game, the “Sukima Roku” (Free Time Record) sub-stories of the main story of each chapter will unlock. The Sukima Roku tells the story from the perspective of characters other than the protagonist Saki—What was that person doing at that time? What was the motive behind that action? Through questions like these, you may be able to uncover the truth that you cannot see from Saki’s perspective.

Some of the technical terms that appear in the story are automatically registered to the “F.O.A.F. Database.” Since the story contains information surrounding many police terms, urban legends, myths, folk tales, and violent crimes, it is useful not only for clarifying cases, but also as a database of worthwhile reading.
