Big Boi Teases New Album With Killer Mike's Help

Big Boi has recruited his longtime friend and collaborator Killer Mike to help tease his first album in eight years.
In a video shared on social media on Wednesday (March 26), the two Atlanta legends are in a recording studio (along with a Star Wars Stormtrooper) when Big Boi says: “Working on a new album, we just had to fight off 50 Stormtroopers.”

Big Boi has release three solo albums since OutKast went on hiatus in the mid-’00s: Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty, Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors and Boomiverse.
He has also dropped two collaborative projects: Big Grams in 2015 with electro-rockers Phantogram and 2021’s Big Sleepover with fellow Dungeon Family member Sleepy Brown.
The ATLien is no stranger to working with Killer Mike, either, with the pair most recently linking up for “Return of the Dope Boi” in 2019.
While Big Boi is back working on solo music, fans should not expect any new material from OutKast reunion any time soon.
In an interview with Rolling Stone last year, André 3000 admitted that he and Big were “further away than ever” from reuniting for a new album.
“I’ll say maybe 10, 15 years ago, in my mind, I thought an OutKast album would happen,” he said. “I don’t know the future, but I can say that we’re further away from it than we’ve ever been. I think it’s a chemistry thing. We have to be wanting to do it. It’s hard for me to make a rap, period, you know? And sometimes I’m in the belief of ‘Let things be.’
“It was a great time in life, and our chemistry was at a certain place that was undeniable. And I think the audience sometimes believes that something has to last forever, and I don’t think that. Any kind of artform, I think that’s probably the opposite. It probably should not last forever. It’s not like a product. In the end, we did give a product, but what made that product was a certain time in both of our lives.”
Despite a comeback not looking likely, the legendary group were recently nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for the first time.
If successful, they will become the 14th Hip Hop act to be inducted into the prestigious musuem following the likes of JAY-Z, Eminem, 2Pac, Biggie and Run-DMC.
