#Bettor goes big on underdog Buccaneers

One bettor in Nevada stands to win a bunch on Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers if they can cover the spread as 3.5-point underdogs against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, Feb. 7, in Super Bowl 2021.

BetMGM reports a bettor at one of its Nevada sportsbooks wagered $2.3 million to profit $2 million on the Buccaneers plus the points.

“This was a bet we were very happy to receive,” said Jason Scott, Bet MGM’s Vice President Trading. “BetMGM had previously written several six figure bets all on the Chiefs and the public is certainly behind Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes. This big Buccaneers bet has helped balance our book.” 

Previous large wagers on Super Bowl 2021 include:

• $180,000 to win $100,000 on the Chiefs -180 on the moneyline

• $115,000 to win $100,000 on Chiefs -3.5 points at -115 vigorish

• $110,000 to win $100,000 on the Chiefs -3.5 points at -110 vigorish

In the market for the Super Bowl MVP award, Patrick Mahomes is distancing Tom Brady in early support. Mahomes opened at +130 and has dropped to even money (+100). He is receiving 18 percent of the tickets and 49.3 percent of the money bet thus far on that prop. Brady opened at +240 and has dropped to 2/1 (+200). He is selected on 17.5 percent of tickets but only $15.4 percent of the total handle.
