The official Twitter account of BASTARD!! -Heavy Metal, Dark Fantasy- has revealed the premiere date for its upcoming Netflix anime. The first 13 episodes will stream worldwide on the service on June 30, 2022. Episodes 14-24 will be released sometime later this year. 

Additional cast members for the anime series have also been revealed. Yoshitsugu Matsuoka will voice Lars, Ari Ozawa will voice Sean Ari, Shizuka Itou will voice Kai Harn, and Takehito Koyasu will voice Di-amon. 

They join Kishou Taniyama as Dark Schneider, Tomori Kusunoki as Tia Noto Yoko, Hiroki Yasumoto as Gara, and Youko Hikasa (Mio Akiyama in K-On!) as Arshes Nei. Other cast members include Kanae Itou as Lushe Renren, Tomokazu Sugita as Dark Priest Abigail, Kensho Ono as Kall-Su, and Nao Toyama as Princess Sheila. 

Takaharu Ozaki (Wave!! Let’s Go Surfing!!) is the director of the anime series. Yousuke Kuroda (My Hero Academia) is the screenwriter, Sayaka Ono is the series’ character designer, Yasunori Ebina (BORUTO) is the sound director, and Yasuharu Takanashi (ZOMBIE LAND SAGA) is the music composer. LIDEN FILMS is in charge of the animation production.

The original Bastard!! manga series was created by Kazushi Hagiwara and was first published on March 14, 1988 to May 19, 2010, when it went on indefinite hiatus. Shueisha has published it periodically in this period in its Weekly Shonen Jump and Ultra Jump magazines. 27 tankoubon volumes have been published in total.
