#Baki Boys’ Love Live-Action TV Drama Reveals a Boatload of New Info

A new key visual for the upcoming Grappler Baki wa BL dewanaika to Kangaesuzuketa Shoujo no Kiroku live-action TV drama, featuring actor Honoka Matsumoto in full make-up and costume as her character, Akane Kojima, day-dreaming about homoerotic encounters in the Grappler Baki manga series.

 

A bevy of new info has been revealed for Grappler Baki wa BL dewanaika to Kangaesuzuketa Shoujo no Kiroku (“The Chronicle of a Maiden Who Continued to Think that Grappler Baki is BL”), an upcoming live-action TV drama based on the essay manga by sociologist Junko Kaneda about a woman who labors under the idea that Keisuke Itagaki’s violent martial arts manga Baki is actually a tender boys’ love story.

 

In addition to the new key visuals (above and below), it has been revealed that actor Amane Okayama will play Takeno, Akane’s junior at work, while actor Fujio Kamio will play Shibamoto, Akane’s former classmate. The ending theme song, “Wish Upon a Star”, is performed by CHAI from their latest album, “WINK”.

 

Also, Akio Ōtsuka, the voice of Yujiro Hanma in the Baki TV anime, will provide the voice of Baki author Keisuke Itagaki, who appears in a “certain form” in the series. Yoshihisa Kawahara, the voice of Katsumi Orochi in the Baki TV anime, reprises his role as Katsumi, who is Akane’s favorite character.

Grappler Baki wa BL dewanaika to Kangaesuzuketa Shoujo no Kiroku follows the daily life of Akane Kojima (played by actor Honoka Matsuomoto), an unassuming women who works as a clerk in a stationery store and who is secretly a huge fujoshi. Akane discovers the Baki series by Keisuke Itagaki and falls in love with its dramatic presentation of muscular martial arts men, but her simple life grows complicated when she gets caught up in the troubles of Takeno (a junior employee at her workplace), Kajiwara (Akane’s boss), and Shibamoto (her former classmate).

 

Grappler Baki wa BL dewanaika to Kangaesuzuketa Shoujo no Kiroku is scheduled to broadcast in Japan on WOWOW on Fridays during the 23:00 time slot beginning on August 20, 2021. The series will run for 7 episodes.
