Baka Not Nice Explains How Drake Diffused His 'Anger' Over Kendrick Lamar's 'Not Like Us'

Baka Not Nice has revealed that Drake talked him out of responding to Kendrick Lamar‘s “Not Like Us” taunt.

Speaking to Hot Freestyle, the OVO Sound rapper and former bodyguard to Drizzy opened up about the beef between the two Hip Hop heavyweights and recalled his reaction to Kendrick bringing up his criminal past on the hit diss song.

“My first initial thing was to respond and respond quickly, very efficiently and directly,” he said. “It started brewing in me because where I come from, you can’t just call out a man and not have paperwork to back it up. It’s ludicrous.

“And then to see a whole nation behind it and celebrating it like it’s a true story is unbelievable. Everybody has to understand: I have a kid, Drake has a kid, so to be making accusations like that are ridiculous and out of this world.”

Baka then revealed that Drake called him to discuss the diss: “I was building up a lot of anger but then I got a call — it was like God said something to him. The Boy [Drake] said, ‘Yo, I know what you’re feeling, I know how you get down but I’m just letting you know, don’t listen to the noise ’cause it’s noise.’

“If you go back and look at all these people that are saying things, they’re not even real people, they’re bots,” he added, before continuing to recall Drizzy’s message: “Don’t let that shit bother you, bro. It’s not a good thing but they’re calling your name!”

Baka further dismissed Kendrick’s claims by saying: “At the end of the day, they’re gonna get over this crap because they’re gonna realize that it’s crap, and then they’re gonna do their own research. And then you’re gonna be like, ‘Wow, this guy made up a whole story that isn’t even true.’ It makes you look weird to me.”

The “Live Up To My Name” rapper concluded by saying: “I wanna say one thing to America: y’all need to get yourself together because making serious accusations on people like that, you need to have paperwork. That is the number one rule.”

In addition to accusing Drake of being a “pedophile” on “Not Like Us,” Kendrick Lamar referenced Baka Not Nice by rapping: “Baka got a weird case, why is he around?”

The “weird case” in question relates to the Toronto native being accused of forcing a woman into prostitution.

He was arrested by Canadian authorities in 2014 and pleaded guilty to charges of assaulting a woman and failing to comply with firearm laws. The prostitution and trafficking charges were later dropped after the woman refused to testify.

Baka would spend six months in prison over the incident.
