#Netflix’s Cowboy Bebop Reveals Photos, Premiere Date

Netflix has released several photos for its live-action adaptation of the 1998 Cowboy Bebop anime. It also revealed that the series will premiere globally on November 19, 2021.

The photos offer a look at John Cho, Mustafa Shakir, and Daniella Pineda as their respective characters Spike Spiegel, Jet Black, and Faye Valentine. The environments shown include the interior of the gang’s spaceship, an alley with the entrance to the C’est la Vie bar in the background, and a church.

Netflix Geeked’s upload of the church screenshot includes the caption, “When Angels are forced out of heaven, they become Devils. You agree don’t you Spike?” The line comes from the anime’s fifth episode, “Ballad of Fallen Angels,” during Spike’s confrontation with the villain Vicious.

Cowboy Bebop was announced in 2018, with filming wrapping in March 2021. The show was delayed for seven-to-nine months in 2019 due to an on-set injury involving Cho.

Netflix describes the show as:

A ragtag crew of bounty hunters chases down the galaxy’s most dangerous criminals. They’ll save the world … for the right price.

Alex Garcia Lopez (Daredevil Season 3), and Michael Katleman (Smallville) are directing the series, with Christopher Yost as writer and Midnight Radio’s André Nemec as showrunner. The executive producers include Midnight Radio’s André Nemec, Jeff Pinkner, Josh Appelbaum, and Scott Rosenberg; Tomorrow Studios’ Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements; Sunrise’s Masayuki Ozaki; and Yost, Tim Coddington, Tetsu Fujimura, Michael Katleman, and Matthew Weinberg

Additionally, the anime’s director Shinichirō Watanabe is serving as a consultant while the anime’s music composer Yoko Kanno is composing the live-action series’ original soundtrack.

The show’s other cast members include Alex Hassell, Elena Satine, Tamara Tunie, and Rachel House.

The original Cowboy Bebop anime ran for 26 episodes, with its staff including Keiko Nobumoto as series composer and Toshihiro Kawamoto as character designer. A movie titled Cowboy Bebop: The Movie (Cowboy Bebop Tengoku no Tobira in Japanese) that took place between Episode 23 and 24 was released in 2001. Both were produced by Sunrise.

Crunchyroll describes the anime series as:

The Bebop crew is just trying to make a buck. This motley lot of intergalactic loners teams up to track down fugitives and turn them in for cold hard cash. Spike is a hero whose cool façade hides a dark and deadly past. The pilot Jet is a bruiser of a brute who can’t wait to collect the next bounty. Faye Valentine is a femme fatale prone to breaking hearts and separating fools from their money. Along for the ride are the brilliant, but weird, hacker Ed and a super-genius Welsh Corgi named Ein.
